About Mark Lewis

Director of Theater Programs

My background is acting- I made my living as an actor for fifteen years in New York prior to coming to Wheaton- but for the last twenty years my primary focus has been directing (over 40 productions at Wheaton) and leading Workout, Wheaton’s theater ensemble. While we have had an extraordinary number of students continue in theater professionally after leaving Wheaton, our Program’s focus is in connecting theater training and practice to the Christian Liberal Arts education that Wheaton offers, and we believe in theater’s broad usefulness for our grads regardless of whether they continue to make theater professionally or not. I love Shakespeare, and have been proud in recent years to direct and to help produce Wheaton’s Shakespeare in the Park productions in August, utilizing professional actors who graduated from Wheaton working alongside our current students. My wife Mary and I are blessed to be the parents of five daughters, each adopted internationally.
