History - Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is a national History Honor Society with a chapter at Wheaton College. PAT promotes awareness of history and sponsors history-related events on campus. Be on the look out for our Christmas Caroling Extravaganza in December and our Spring Field Trip in April, along with other events spread throughout the year. Phi Alpha Theta also sponsors occasional trips to places of historical interest in Chicago and elsewhere. Members are encouraged to present research papers in regional competitions.

On the national level, Phi Alpha Theta offers a number of prizes and awards for outstanding student work. Phi Alpha Theta is open to Wheaton students with twelve or more credits in history, a GPA of 3.4 in history, and an overall GPA of 3.1.

For the 2008-2009 school year, Wheaton's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta was awarded the Best Chapter Award among schools of its size.

For the 2009-2010 and 2011-12 school years, Wheaton's chapter received Honorable Mention for chapters among schools of its size.
