About Stephen Lovett
Dr. Stephen Lovett joined the faculty of Wheaton College in 2008 after teaching at Eastern Nazarene College for 5 years where he served as the department chair for 2 years. He enjoys research and teaching in many areas of pure mathematics. During his undergraduate studies at Brown University he spent two summers working on electronic books for Calculus and Differential Geometry and one summer working at the Department of Defense. Along with his graduate studies and some courses he taught while a graduate student, Dr. Lovett now has specific interests in commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, differential geometry, cryptography and discrete dynamical systems.
His non-mathematical fun consists of two primary areas: music and travel (for tourism, study or volunteer work). He sang in a Choral Union for 4 years and played one of the barbershop quartet members in a 2004 undergraduate production of The Music Man. In the past few years, he and his wife and their daughter have traveled to southern Mexico, Dominican Republic, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Austria (to name a few countries).
