Bearing Witness to Jesus Then and Now: Reflections on Some Old Words and New Challenges
The Biblical & Theological Studies Department presents the Ellis Lecture on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 7:00 pm. Our speaker for the evening is Dr. D.A. Carson and the title of his lecture is “Bearing Witness to Jesus Then and Now: Reflections on Some Old Words and New Challenges.”
Dr. Carson (Ph.D., Cambridge) is Research Professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has written or edited more than fifty books. His book, The Gagging of God: Christianity Confronts Pluralism (Zondervan 1996), won the 1997 Evangelical Christian Publishers Association Gold Medallion Award in the category “theology and doctrine.” He is also the editor of three series: New Studies in Biblical Theology (IVP), Pillar New Testament Commentary (Eerdmans), and Studies in Biblical Greek (Peter Lang). His most recent book is, Jesus Son of God (Crossway, 2012).
Dr. Carson came to Trinity from the faculty of Northwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he served for two years as academic dean. He also taught at Northwest Baptist Theological College, Richmond College, and Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto. He has served as assistant pastor and pastor and has done itinerant ministry in Canada and the United Kingdom. Additionally, he is the president of The Gospel Coalition. Dr. Carson is an active guest lecturer in academic and church settings around the world.
