This lecture will explore question of the origins of the Septuagint,evaluating in the light of the realities of the text itself some of the early traditions concerning the creation of the first translation of the Jewish Scriptures into another language. It will also touch on some of the strategies that the translators employed to render the Hebrew source text into Greek, and on how the the work of those who produced the Septuagint influenced the authors of the New Testament.
