About William E. Medcalf

Mr. Medcalf joined the Physics Department faculty to help strengthen the dual degree engineering program.  He advises students in the program and seeks to ensure that they are admissible to ABET accredited engineering schools with no loss of credit.  He also works with partner institutions to strengthen relationships that facilitate the ability of Wheaton students to participate in their coursework and complete their baccalaureate engineering education at those schools.  He is excited to be a part of an environment in which engineering students are made aware of how engineers are able to apply their Christian faith to their professional practice and life.

Mr. Medcalf is interested in the design, development, and manufacture of mechanical systems and products.  His interests include the practices of concurrent engineering, stewardship in design and manufacture, and design, analysis and test to ensure product integrity.  He is currently a licensed Professional Engineer in two states and is a ‘retired’ PE in a third.

Mr. Medcalf enjoys family, friends, reading, and singing.  He also has a very strong interest in all things aviation and is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
