Connecting Your Laptop

If you will be connecting your laptop to a classroom display for a presentation or lecture, check these settings before your event:

  • Make sure you have any adapters you need. VGA and HDMI are the most common connections in classrooms. Because of the wide variety of laptops available, you may need a different display connector than the one available in the classroom. You may borrow adapters from Equipment Circulation.
  • Check your display settings to make sure your laptop is displaying to both screens. You may also want to have your laptop screen set as your primary display before presenting. This is especially important if you use a docking station.

FAQ

The classroom computer is not logged in. What do I do?

If you restart the computer, it will automatically log you in.

How do I turn the projector or monitor on?

Select a source to display from the Control Panel (touch screen or button menu). This automatically turns on the system. If the projector is not displaying picture, make sure the projector is not muted.

There is no sound playing.

If you are using a computer or laptop, check to see that the volume is set to the correct level. New laptops often require you to select an audio source. If the audio settings on your laptop are correct, try switching to a different source on the control panel and then back to the one you'd like to use.
