PsyD in Clinical Psychology (120 hours) Admission Requirements

Admission decisions based on total applicant pool. Interview Day is February 6, 2015. Interviews are by invitation.

Requirements for All Students

  1. Application Deadline December 15. Fall enrollment only.
  2. Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  3. GPA 3.0 minimum.
  4. Seven Prerequisites, below.
  5. GRE General Test.
  6. Official Transcripts from all schools that ever granted you college credit, even just one credit.
    • E-transcripts preferred. They are the fastest and most reliable method of delivery. Have them addressed to nancy.crane@wheaton.edu.
    • Mail hard copies to Wheaton College, ATTN: GRADUATE ADMISSIONS, 501 College Av., Wheaton, IL 60187.
  7. Admission Application.
  8. Three Recommendation Forms, not letters.
    • Academic.
    • Pastoral (or other Christian leader).
    • Professional.
      • Option if you do not have an employer: Someone with whom you have had a supervisor-employee relationship, e.g., in a ministry, internship, or missions-trip context.
    • Letters accepted as supplements to the Recommendation Forms. 
  9. Two Essays.
  10. CV (Curriculum Vitae) or Chronological Resume.
  11. Research Paper.
    • Ten pages minimum.
    • Sole authorship; including if group project.
  12. Signed Statement of Faith, Community Covenant, and Statement of Veracity.
  13. Application Processing Fee US $50, non-refundable.

  

Prerequisites (7 courses, 21 semester hours)

All prerequisites, except for research/statistics, must be taken from a psychology department, not an education or sociology department. The courses can have different names at other schools. 

  • General Psychology
  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Personality Psychology
  • Research Methods or Statistics
  • Physiological Psychology
    • Can be taken as tutorial during first summer of PsyD program.
  • Two Courses from the following.
    • Cognition
    • Developmental Psychology
    • Learning
    • Sensation/Perception
    • Social Psychology 

 

Additional Requirements for International Students

  1. Both GRE and either the TOEFL or IELTS.
