MKs, TCKs, and International Students
In Their Own Words
My name is Becky Wilson and I have the privilege of serving all of our prospective Missionary Kids (MKs), Third Culture Kids (TCKs), and International students and their families. I feel that God has uniquely prepared me for my role at Wheaton College.
By my senior year in high school I had lived in Iran, Germany, England, Peru, and the United Arab Emirates. I was looking for a college with an international perspective where I could grow in my faith, be challenged academically, and make lifelong friends. Wheaton was the perfect fit!
As a Wheaton student I enjoyed being a member of the Track team, leading a prison ministry, going into Chicago once a week with the Wheaton Evangelism Team, and working as a DJ for WETN (Wheaton’s own radio station).
I also was involved in World Christian Fellowship where my eyes were really opened to God’s perspective on the world. Even though I had lived outside the U.S. all of my life, I had a lot to learn about God’s global plans. By my senior year in college, I knew that God was calling me to cross-cultural work. As Sociology major, I had learned the strategic value of urban ministry. I had grown in my compassion for the Muslim world. I had also fallen in love with another Wheaton student who had a heart for Asia.
After graduating from Wheaton, I got married to my college sweetheart and we moved to Indonesia where we served for the next 12 years. Our first two years there, we were international students at a local university! Our sons spoke Indonesian before they spoke English and, now that we are back in the United States, they still enjoy eating tempeh and sambal olek.
I would love to be a part of your journey as you explore your future college destination! Please let me know how I can serve you and your family!
