Ministry of Gospel Renewal
The Ministry of Gospel Renewal (MGR) exists to see “partially evangelized” men and women across the U.S. and around the world converted, embracing scripture, and engaged in gospel outreach as fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. The “partially evangelized” refers to those who have some connection to the church, but for whom the gospel is absent or unclear. In this context, the word “gospel” is defined as the new birth, reliance on scripture, and a concern for evangelism. MGR, headed by director Chris Castaldo, seeks to provide evangelicals with the requisite training and tools for engagement with partially evangelized persons, connecting the dots between the life-giving message of Christ and the millions of people who have yet to be transformed by it.
The Evangelism Initiative (EI), a partnership between Wheaton College and the Billy Graham Center, is focused on cultivating a strong emphasis on the integration of faith and learning on Christian liberal arts campuses around the country. It involves developing and nurturing an ethos of evangelism throughout the entire campus community. This is done in at least three ways: engaging students in discussion and practical engagement; beginning student mentoring groups; and promoting faculty-student interaction on topics related to integrating faith and learning. EI, under the direction of Jerry Root, associate director of the Institute of Strategic Evangelism, has now been taken to over a dozen Christian liberal arts college campuses around the country.
