The U.S. is known as the land of the free, yet locks up more people than any other country in the world. Representing just 5% of the world’s population, we now hold 25% of its inmates. There are many injustices and human rights issues connected to this dubious distinction.
Scripture calls Christians to speak up and defend those who are experiencing injustice and discrimination.
- Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. - Proverbs 31:8
- Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts…Therefore, this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says: But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! - Amos 5:14, 24
In the coming months we will be building out this page. Below you will find documents, links, events, and tools to increase awareness of mass incarceration, advocate for justice reform, and serve those impacted by the legal system.
