2017 Spring Break Staycation

Join us for Spring Break Staycation, free events especially for kids 5-12 during spring break.

Wheaton College hosts a Spring Break Staycation for elementary school-aged children March 27 to 31. Join us on campus for interactive cooking and science events, a dramatic performance, and open gym time. All events are free, but registration is required for the Cooking School & Kitchen Tour on Wednesday, March 29.  Children must be accompanied by their caregivers.

Pick up a Staycation passport early in the week and receive stamps for each day’s activities!

Monday, March 27

Open Gym in the Sports & Recreation Complex (SRC)
9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wheaton College SRC | 603 Kenilworth Ave.


Join HoneyRock staffers in the SRC to play a game of pig, ping pong, or just run around! Check in at the front desk and grab a basketball or dodge ball to use in the gym.

Tuesday, March 28

Farmer Giles of Ham performance
10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Wade Center, Bakke Auditorium | 351 E. Lincoln Ave.

The Marion E. Wade Center and the Wheaton College Tolkien Society present a performance of Farmer Giles of Ham, a short fable by J.R.R. Tolkien. The story tells of the farmer’s encounters with a crafty dragon named Chrysophylax and his rise to fame.

Cooking School & Kitchen Tour with Bon Appétit (registration is closed)

Join Chef John for a guided tour of the Wheaton College kitchen and bakery, and then make your own pizza and dessert!  (Registration for this event is now closed.)

Join the Wheaton College Geology Club to learn about streams, stones, and fossils. Stop by between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to visit a variety of interactive stations and see Perry the Mastodon.

Friday, March 31

Hands-on Reactions with the Wheaton Chemistry Society
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Meyer Science Center, Room 311 | 430 Howard Street

Stop by the Chemistry lab between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to observe, touch, and experiment with several reactions that feel different than they appear and look different than what you’d expect!
