Symphonic Band: Fall 2007 Audition Information

Greetings to all freshmen and transfer band instrumentalists!

As conductor of the Wheaton College Symphonic Band, I want to encourage you to audition for this unique campus ensemble. The Symphonic Band is a group of remarkable people who view making music as a way of sharing their musical gifts with others.

The rehearsal and performance schedule is well suited for music majors as well as non-majors.
The Symphonic Band is an important part of the Conservatory of Music, Wheaton College, and the surrounding community.

Here are some details about the Symphonic Band.
• Rehearsals: Mondays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Performances: Children’s Concerts on October 9th and 11th, Family Weekend Concert on November 3rd, Winter Concert on February 9th, Spring Concert on April 26th, and Festival of Faith on May 9th
• Instrumentation: flute/piccolo, oboe, bassoon, Bb clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, string bass, and percussion
• Audition Music: Available in pdf format using the links to the right. Each audition will be 5-10 minutes long and consist of playing the audition material.
• Audition Signup: Signup for an audition during orientation on Thursday, August 23rd and Friday, August 24th in the Sport and Recreation Center or email me at Timothy.Yontz@wheaton.edu to schedule an audition time. Auditions will be scheduled for both majors and non-majors on Saturday, August 25th, Monday, August 27th, and Tuesday, August 28th. They will be held in McAlister 228.
• Audition Results: Results will be posted outside of McAlister 228 by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29th.
• First Rehearsal: Wednesday, August 29th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the stage of Edman Chapel.
• Repertoire to be performed: Traditional and contemporary wind band repertoire.
