Welcome Class of 2019!
On Thursday students and families began arriving on campus, and the Thunder Moving Company, made up of student volunteers, swooped in to help everyone move and get settled in to the dorms quickly and easily.
On Friday student and parent welcome centers were open for business, and the Opening Program at Edman Chapel featured insights and encouragement from the 2015 Orientation Committee—including this year's orientation song—and other College leaders, including President Philip Ryken.
"To be honest with you, tonight is a night . . . when I always get goose bumps just thinking about what God has done to bring you here, and what he will do in our lives together in the coming years and then long after that as a rich harvest of spiritual faithfulness will be born here from your time at Wheaton College," said Dr. Ryken.
Saturday featured morning worship, tips on living well at Wheaton, a chance to meet the profs and adminstration, a scavenger hunt, game night and a party at the Beamer Center. Parents gathered for a closing program during which they corporately acknowledge both the joy and the pain of ushering their children into this new phase of life.
Sunday was a chance to worship and rest before gearing up for Monday's ChicaGO Community Service Day, when students served with their sophomore GO guides on a service day in the city of Chicago. Orientation culminated Tuesday night with All-School Communion, in which we remembered Christ's sacrifice, celebrated his victory over death and received again his much-needed grace for our community.
Wednesday it was off to class.
