Sharpen Your Professional Skills


HoneyRock offers technical skills training to sharpen camp workers in their professional competencies, making them more effective in their leadership, evangelism and discipleship responsibilities. These short courses are offered at convenient times in the year to accommodate camp practitioners and their busy seasons. Most are offered on site at HoneyRock and may result in certification.

The following courses will be offered at different times in 2014. To find out more about the courses, their scheduling and availability contact the program manager.

Wilderness First Responder

The WFR is an 80 hours comprehensive and in-depth practical training in the standards and skills of dealing with backcountry emergencies. Certified through SOLO.

 Ropes Course Facilitator

The level one training is a 40-hour designed to teach participants how to safely operate a challenge course.   Certified through Challenge Quest, LLC. an institutional member of ACCT. 

Sea Kayaking

Level 1&2 ACA Coastal Instructor Certification that teaches how to lead and instruct fundamental sea kayak skills, trip leading, teaching methodology and hazard awareness.

Whitewater Kayaking

This course teaching fundamental whitewater skills, hazard awareness, and rescue.

Swiftwater Rescue

This three-day course focuses on safety, rescue and response in whitewater emergencies.


Basic ACA flat-water canoeing course that teaches fundamental canoeing skills, expeditionary trip leading, safety, and emergency response.

Adventure Challenge.

Basic skills to teach small and large group facilitation using games, stand alone elements, and small challenge courses (low ropes).  Solid teaching methodology to use in any circuit course, element or game for learning.

Equestrian Skills

Basic skills taught by CHA instructors for safely leading and using horses for institutional use.

Wilderness Expedition Leadership

This course gives the basics to teach and lead trips for groups using experiential education, temporary community, food packing, leadership development, route planning, navigation, stewardship of creation awareness, understanding group dynamics, judgment and safety.

Discipleship and Evangelism

These are the skills and understanding in how to lead people to faith, lead them into a vibrant relationship with Jesus and disciple them to maturity.  Will participate in a discipling group first with a mentor.
