Steven J. Oberg recently joined the Wheaton College faculty as Assistant Professor of Library Science.
Previously Oberg served as a project manager at Abbott Laboratories. He has an ongoing appointment as a visiting lecturer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Oberg is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned an A.B. in History, and an M.S. in Library and Information Science.
His research interests include open access to scholarly literature, open source software, electronic resources management, and technology in libraries. He is also interested in information organization and the balance between traditional and online library collections.
“The opportunity to come to Wheaton is the culmination of over 20 years of wanting to work here, and I am thrilled and grateful to finally call it my professional home. I have always had great respect for the institution, its history, and its culture,” Oberg says. “I am particularly focused on ensuring that ready access to a rapidly growing array of online resources—e-journals, e-books, databases, and more—is within reach of all Wheaton College students, faculty, and staff.”
