To spread awareness about the unique histories, societies and traditions of this part of the world, as well as to provide students with experience or interest in Asian cultures the opportunity to engage their friends and classmates around these topics.
What We Do:
Rice Bowl works alone or with other culture clubs to host a variety of activities throughout the school year on and off campus. Past events have included Japanese, Hong Kong and Thai film screenings ("Okuribito," "Train Man," "Kung Fu Hustle" and "Beautiful Boxer"), a lecture explaining South Korean smash hit "Gangham Style," Asian food samplings and comparative culture events. Participation for all events is open to the student body.
Potential events for the 2013-2014 school year include a Bollywood-style dance lesson and Indian cuisine night, a lecture on Asian literature and examination of Korean culture through film.
How to get involved:
Please submit your ideas for future events! If you have a specific interest in an aspect of Asian history or culture, or if you identify with a particular Asian culture and want to share it with the student body, let us know! You can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
