Ph.D. Talbot School of Theology, Biola University 2013

Through my own educational experience as an undergraduate at Wheaton I can attest that God used others, including teachers, mentors, and friends in powerful ways in the process of my own growth – it was nothing short of transforming for my faith and my worldview. As a result, I have dedicated my career to educating and equipping college students through relational ministry, program advising, and leadership development experiences that I have greatly enjoyed.

In my current role as the Dean of Student Engagement, I am committed to supporting and challenging college students to develop in their identity, skills, knowledge, and attitudes to engage an increasingly interconnected world, to encounter Jesus Christ throughout all aspects of their life, to participate in the worldwide Christian church, to enjoy the rich diversity of God’s creation, and to graciously share their growth and faith in Christ with others. Through this commitment, I view the central objective of my work to serve as a guide – advancing student learning and spiritual formation through both curricular and co-curricular experiences facilitated by integrated partnerships with faculty and student development colleagues.

After completing my Bachelor of Music degree from the Wheaton College Conservatory, I served in Student Development at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida for three years. I returned to Wheaton where I received my Master’s degree in Educational Ministries and began working in the Student Activities Office. My commitment to college student development over the years sent me after a PhD from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University where my research focused on co-curricular student engagement and identity development theories in the context of contemporary student activists’ efforts.

I love the Lord Jesus Christ, my family, and friendships, and like learning, travelling, and eating Thai food. I am an active member of College Church in Wheaton, a devoted sailor, an active downhill skier, and an enthusiastic fan of Van Morrison’s music. The lyrics of Avalon Sunset, No Guru No Method, and Hymns of the Silence are a few of my favorite that ring through my head on any given day.
