Student Government

Jasmine Tan

Graduation year: 2014

Hometown: Singapore

Major: Economics and Mathematics

Involvement at Wheaton: Orientation Committee, HoneyRock, DSG, MuKappa, Wheaton in the Holy Lands and Student Government

Position on SG:  Business Manager

Why SG? In my time at Wheaton, I have seen SG working positively for the benefit of the student body and I really wanted to be a part of the change that SG is making throughout Wheaton. All that plus the fact that I just love being a part of the SAO, simply because of the amazing people who work in and are involved in the office.

About Me:  I was born in Los Angeles, CA and was raised in Singapore. I have an amazing older brother and two loving parents, and I'm the first in my family to attend Wheaton! After Wheaton, God willing, I am hoping to attend graduate school in economics and potentially pursue a career in economic research. But I have also learned to be open to what God has in store for my future.

Why Wheaton? God’s peace.

Favorite place on campus? Gold Star Chapel

What would you like to see happen as a result of being on Student Government this year? As Business Manager, I would also like to help SG be good stewards of the money that has been entrusted to us, for the good of the student body. At the same time, I hope to see SG use the resources we have to build up the Wheaton community in a way that unifies and empowers.

Describe Wheaton in three words: Unlike any other.

Favorite Wheatonism: Saving a table in Saga with silverware.

How has the Wheaton Community impacted you? Wheaton has allowed me to grow in love for my Lord and to understand what it truly means to live a radical life for Christ. I have been challenged and stretched beyond my comfort zone in so many areas at Wheaton, but God is good and has and will always be there. I have also developed friendships that are rooted in Christ, and are ones that I will cherish forever.
