Mackenzie Labus, Chair

Childhood Nickname:
I don't remember having a nickname as a little kid, but "Mack" and "Labus" both picked up starting in middle school.

What I love about Wheaton:
The opportunity to pursue learning and living for the glory of the Lord Jesus alongside such amazing people.

Why WCF?
Through seeing God's work in my own life and in the lives of others, I've realized that as we hear about God's work in the world and witness it firsthand, we're brought to understand more of who God is and to worship Him more as a result. Through WCF, I get to be part of providing students with the opportunity to hear and share about the work God is doing around the world, with the hope that we come away understanding more of who He is and worshipping Him more as a result.

Words to live by:
For Christ and His Kingdom. Soli Deo Glori. For the sake of His name among the nations.

Craziest thing I've done:
being part of a group dance to Gangnam Style in front of around 100 Vietnamese people and tourists in Hanoi, Vietnam

I want to...before I die:
worship with a people group that is unreached as of right now

It bothers me when:
I'm late (which unfortunately happens too frequently).

People often say I'm:
great at giving back massages

Eugenia Kang, Administrator

What I love about Wheaton:
It’s such a blessing to be in a place filled with peers who are striving to serve God!

Why WCF?
I think that we often get so caught up in the whirlwind of our busy schedules that we forget about the world outside of our little bubbles. WCF reminds students of the beauty and the pain around the world, and the ways God is working in different nations. And it also reminds us the importance of praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.

Words to live by:
"Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 AND "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." - Dr. Suess

Craziest thing I've done:
When I was in preschool I ate some play-doh because I thought it was the same as dough…but it didn’t taste yummy :(

I want to...before I die:
Visit lots of countries around the world…to eat different foods :D

It bothers me that:
I seem to get a lot clumsier when I’m in a hurry.

Angela Webster, Publicity Coordinator

Words to live by....
Kyrie Eleison.

Craziest thing I've done:
Drank half a cup of apple cider. It was a struggle.

I want to ..... before I die.
Visit England with my awesome roommate, Laura, and go on a pilgrimage to every cathedral.
Adopt at least 2 kids.
Spend a lot more time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Fly to the moon.

It bothers me when:
Meetings run really long...

Michael Vanaman, Creative Arts Coordinator

Childhood nickname:
“Roo” (After Kanga and Roo from Winnie the Pooh)

What I love about Wheaton:
I love the Christmas season here.

Why WCF?
I believe that engaging Christianity as a faith which is being worked out across the globe is something from which we have fallen away. We all have a great amount to give but we must keep that contact and awareness in order benefit each other as sisters and brother in Christ who are scattered across this earth.

Words to live by:
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. ~ T.E. Lawrence

Craziest thing I've done....
At the age of three I was a master thief who stole socks, earrings, Christmas decorations, or anything that was close enough for my little hands to reach while riding around on my father’s backpack.

I want to...before I die:
Use Zeno’s Paradox to argue my way out of a speeding ticket.

It bothers me when:
I am forced to fill out questionnaires…

Jeanie Choi, Prayer Coordinator

Childhood nickname:
Jeanster, Jeanie Beanie, Jean

What I love about Wheaton:
the community, the people are amazing.

Why WCF?
I want to become a missionary one day and this is training me to look at the big picture. Also, it is teaching me more about God's heart for the world. It is also teaching me how to pray.

Words to live by....
Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.

Craziest thing I've done:
go to South Africa by myself for 5 weeks to teach?

I want to...before I die:
scuba dive in Hawaii

It bothers me when:
people rub metal things next to each other. MY EARS!

People often say I'm:
a mom

Christine Chong, Events Coordinator

Childhood nickname:
Chongo

What I love about Wheaton:
My professors who are full of knowledge and wisdom and take delight in imparting their gifts to their students, the faculty who really mean it when they say “I care,” the physical Wheaton campus, the existence of colors (Autumn!!), the existence of rain(??), and snow (flurries, storms, polar vortex.. BRING IT ON)!!!!

Why WCF?
Because everyone must know who Jesus is- Christians and non-Christians alike- and WCF works for that end through our individual events and through support for other ministries.

Words to live by....
Nate Saint’s exchange with his son Steve Saint in End of the Spear:
Steve: If the Waodani attack, will you defend yourself? Will you use your guns?
Nate: Son, we can’t shoot the Waodani; they’re not ready for heaven. We are.

Craziest thing I've done:
Cliff jump at South Point (Southernmost point of Hawaii; 15 meter jump. I don’t know how to swim.).

I want to...before I die:
Learn how to swim...

It bothers me when:
I don’t have courage to do something.

People often say I'm:
pretty darn awesome. Just kidding.. I don’t know what people often say that I am.

Bethany Thomas, Special Events Coordinator

Childhood nickname:
Boo or Befernicus, depending on which parent was talking. Lately, my friends call me Bepi.

What I love about Wheaton:
Meeting genuine people who are yearning after the Lord and having my world shaken up as I learn academically and relationally alongside them.

Why WCF?
There is power in prayer and WCF as a ministry celebrates this truth and welcomes others to have an attitude of awareness and intercession that is rare and beautiful.

Milton Freisan described it perfectly earlier this year in a panel discussion “We don’t have the luxury of being naive or cynical”

Words to live by....
Timshel - thou mayest

Deuteronomy 4:7 “For what great nation has a god as near to them as the LORD our God is near to us whenever we call on him?

Craziest thing I've done:
I’m trying to become a morning person this year!

It bothers me when:
Someone talks without listening and/or chews with their mouth open.
We sing worship songs about ourselves and not God himself.

People often say I'm:
Funny, honest, quiet until you get to know me, sassy
