Student Athlete Insurance Policy

Wheaton College carries a secondary athletic injury health insurance policy for all varsity level athletes. This policy is free to athletes. In order to receive benefits from the secondary policy, student-athletes must carry primary health insurance (PHI) for the entire school year without any gaps or lapses. Wheaton Student-athletes are not allowed to participate in intercollegiate athletics without primary insurance coverage.

Secondary Insurance Rules and Restrictions

  • The policy only covers athletic injuries that occur during the official NCAA 18/19 week practice and playing season. 
  • It does NOT include student led practices, individual work-outs, and conditioning sessions outside of the official season.
