Secondary Insurance Policy for Varsity Athletics
Wheaton College carries a secondary health insurance policy to reduce costs to students who are injured as part of the intercollegiate athletic season. To receive benefits from the secondary policy, students must carry primary health insurance (PHI) for the entire school year without any gaps or lapses. Wheaton students are not allowed to participate in intercollegiate athletics without primary insurance coverage.
Secondary Insurance Policy Restrictions
- The policy only covers athletic injuries occurring during the official NCAA 18/19 week practice and playing season.
- It does NOT cover injuries occurring as part of student-led practices, individual work-outs, and/or conditioning sessions outside of the official season.
