Health Insurance Resources

Due to the new change in which the student health insurance plan will no longer cover spouse and dependents as of July 31, 2015, Wheaton College Student Health Services has compiled a list of resources for families to investigate to obtain replacement health insurance coverage.

The following facts must be understood before proceeding:

1) Degree seeking students (at the first credit hour) or special students taking 9 or more credit hours are required to show comparable coverage health insurance.  Students’ accounts will be billed and the student must waive utilizing the online waiver created and managed by Gallagher Student Health and Special Risk.

2) Wheaton College does not manage or own the insurance product.  Any questions regarding the process, online waiver, claims, or insurance benefits must be directed to the broker, Gallagher Special Student Health and Risk

3) The following insurance resources have not been vetted by Wheaton College or the Student Health Insurance Office.  Due to the uniqueness of each student’s family situation, it is the responsibility of the student to investigate and select the best product.

4) Wheaton College cannot answer any questions regarding these resources or assist with claims.

5) In most cases, a dependent who has lost coverage qualifies to enroll in a new plan outside of open enrollment if it is within 60 days of loss of coverage. Do not delay.
