Professor and StudentRanked as one of the best National Liberal Arts College in US News and World Report, Wheaton is consistently noted for its rigorous curriculum and high academic standard in all forty majors. In the last century, Wheaton has built a reputation for academic excellence recognized throughout the country.

Wheaton's diverse and talented student body represents all 50 states and more than 40 countries. Over half of incoming freshmen are from the top 10% of their high school graduating class. Nearly 10% of those enrolled in each class are National Merit Scholars.

Wheaton boasts an exceptionally gifted and caring faculty, with more than 90% holding doctorates or the highest degree attainable in their field. With a student/faculty ratio of 12 to 1 and all classes taught by professors, Wheaton's faculty can actually teach and give their students personal attention—and they do.

Wheaton is one of 50 liberal arts schools identified for producing the best science graduates. With its well-credentialed science faculty, world-class instrumentation, abundant resources and a high number of doctoral recipients (nearly 1/3 of all science graduates complete doctorates), Wheaton has one of the top 50 liberal arts science departments nationwide.

Wheaton has been ranked 9th out of 900 liberal arts colleges nationwide for the number of graduates who go on to earn doctorates. Distinguished graduate schools like Yale, Princeton, and the University of Chicago enroll Wheaton graduates in all fields.
