An internship program is available
to all students in both majors in the department. The internship
offering provides credit for supervised involvement in the
private and public sector of the economy. It major purpose
is to give the student an opportunity to test and apply
their classroom work in the non-academic marketplace. Consequently,
only juniors and seniors qualify and they must have completed
background coursework in the department including:
211, 212 Introduction
to Micro & Macroeconomics
321 Statistics
Other courses may require pre-requisites
depending on the nature of the experience anticipated.
Each student must prepare a well-written resume before pursuing
an internship. A student with marginal academic record
may be discouraged from taking an internship until his/her
class performance improves.
