Internships and Study Abroad
Internships
History internships offer students the opportunity to earn four hours of elective credit and to receive invaluable experience in a history-related job setting. Potential internship sites near Wheaton include the Naper Settlement , the First Division Museum at Cantigny , the Center for History in Wheaton , and the DuPage County Historical Museum . Chicago offers more extensive possibilities (see the Opportunities webpage for a starting point), and students may pursue a summer internship in their home area or in some other location. For more information, students should consult their academic advisor in the History Department, as well as the Internship Guidelines.

Study Abroad
Students interested in study abroad have many options. Students can contact Dr. Charles Weber for information on the May in Asia Program or the HNGR office or Dr. Genzo Yamamoto for opportunities with Wheaton 's Human Needs and Global Resources program. Other departments on campus also sponsor study abroad options. For more information, students can also consult their academic advisor in the History Department and the History Department Office Coordinator for materials on other study abroad programs.
Wheaton College also is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), which offers a semester in Washington and numerous study abroad programs appropriate for history majors. Most CCCU programs feature a semester in such locations as China , Costa Rica , Egypt , England , Russia , Uganda , and Australia . In some areas students live together in a dorm-like situation and in others they live with a host family. These are excellent programs for students seeking a faith-based community as well as cross-cultural experience and study. For more information on the CCCU semester programs, check their student program website and talk with your advisor or the History Department chair.
