Phi Alpha Theta

The Alpha Epsilon Kappa Chapter of the national history honor society, Phi Alpha Theta, exists to provide community and the exchange of ideas among students interested in history. The Wheaton chapter will often present a historical film to the college community and organize a discussion of the topic presented.

Phi Alpha Theta also sponsors occasional trips to places of historical interest in Chicago and elsewhere. Members are encouraged to present research papers in regional competitions. During the 2005-2006 academic year, two Wheaton students received first and second places in the World History category at the regional competition.

On the national level, Phi Alpha Theta offers a number of prizes and awards for outstanding student work. Phi Alpha Theta is open to Wheaton
students with twelve or more credits in history, a GPA of 3.4 in history, and an overall GPA of 3.2. For more information contact the society's faculty advisor, David Maas
