Cape Town Banners of Reconciliation

Banners from 2010 Lausanne Conference in Cape Town, South Africa

Located in the Museum lobby, these banners were designed by a South African artist and beaded by rural craftsmen from Kwa-Zulu Natal Province, South Africa for at the 2010 Lausanne Congress. The overarching theme of the Congress was: "God in Christ reconciling the world to himself" (2 Cor. 5:19). The exhibit is composed of six banners, each illustrating a different biblical theme for every day of the Congress. Each banner depicts two scenes from the Bible, one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament. A red stripe, representing the reconciling work of Christ's shed blood on the cross, runs through the center of the panels. Take a moment to decipher the stories and enjoy the intricate beauty of the beading.
