Benefits Overview
Wheaton College offers a variety of benefits to help serve eligible faculty and staff, and their loved ones. The following information is not all inclusive, and we encourage all eligible employees to familiarize themselves with their available benefits. Current employees can access more detailed information about their benefits through the Portal or by contacting the Human Resources Department directly.
Healthcare
In order to ensure our employees have the resources necessary to promote and maintain their health, Wheaton College offers eligible employees a variety of healthcare benefits. More details surrounding healthcare options are available through the Portal.
Effective the first day of employment, all eligible employees are offered medical coverage through BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois.
Effective the first day of employment, all eligible employees are offered dental insurance through Delta Dental.
Effective the first day of employment, all eligible employees are offered vision insurance through Delta Vision.
Effective the first day of employment, eligible employees are able to enroll in Medical and Dependent Care accounts.
Paid Time Off
Finding a healthy work-life balance is important to your continued success as an employee here. At Wheaton College, an employee may be eligible for any of the following types of paid time off.
Wheaton College provides the following fourteen paid holidays that are independent of discretionary vacation days:
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Break (2 Days)
- Christmas Eve through New Year's Day (6 days)
Vacation allotment for staff employees is based upon years of service, and position.
Sick time allotment for staff and faculty is based upon position.
Income Replacement
Wheaton College recognizes the strain large life transitions can potentially have on a family. Through our retirement planning options, life insurance offerings, as well as disability insurance coverage, our employees can feel supported in whatever stage of life they may find themselves in.
All employees (with the exception of Wheaton College Student Employees) are eligible to participate immediately upon date of hire to the plan record kept by TIAA. After one year of employment and attainment of 21 years of age, employees who have worked a minimum of 1,000 hours in a 12 month measurement period will qualify to receive the institutional matching contribution.
Wheaton College provides basic coverage of 1.5 times employee's annual salary. Supplemental employee and dependent coverage is also available.
Wheaton College provides short-term and long-term disability coverage at 60% of salary after one year of full-time employment.
Life Enhancement
In addition to the other benefits listed, Wheaton College provides some unique offerings that help improve the overall quality of life for our employees. Tuition remission is offered to employees and their spouses and in some cases to dependent children.
Wheaton College provides financial assistance for eligible adoption expenses.
Employees and their eligible dependents receive discounts to campus activities and services, as well as access to on-campus fitness facilities, and most athletic events.
