Promoting Student Stories with Merit
Visit Wheaton's Merit page to read recent student stories.
Wheaton College uses a platform called MeritPages to publish and share student stories. Last year, Media Relations published more than 10,000 stories through Merit, highlighting students' participation in sports teams and clubs, as well as academic honors and awards.
Why Merit?
- Merit allows Wheaton College to widely share student stories, keeping Wheaton and our excellent students top of mind.
- Merit creates a positive, customizable online identity for students. In addition to showcasing the stories published by Media Relations, students can add a profile picture, work experience, and non-Wheaton activities to their page.
How does Merit work?
- Students participate in sports teams, clubs, and other activities and earn awards such as Dean's List, fellowships, and merit scholarships.
- Media Relations receives lists of students who participate in these activities and earn academic achievements.
- A story is published to each student's Merit profile page and shared with students' hometown newspapers, local government representatives, and high schools.
- Students receive an email notification whenever a Merit story is published about them. Students can also share stories through their personal social media networks.
How can I opt out of Merit?
You can opt out of Merit by using the link at the bottom of any Merit-related email. Can't find an email? Send your request to media.relations@wheaton.edu.
