Johan Van Overtveldt
"We will see even more change and change at an even more rapid pace than we have seen in the recent past." - Johan Van Overtveldt
On September 8, 2015, Johan Van Overtveldt, Finance Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium and former Professor of Economics at the University of Hasselt, addressed an overflow audience of faculty and students at Wheaton College on the topic of "turbo change," a concept of exponential increases in change. Overtveldt argued that turbo change will place the United States at the forefront of the 21st century despite its recent struggles and the strengthening of its competitors such as the European Union and China.
A light reception and book signing followed the free lecture open to the public at Blanchard 339.
