|
Dr. Niemczyk graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. He continued his education at Columbia University where he received a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1972. After receiving his doctorate, Dr. Niemczyk attended Westminster Theological Seminary for one year. He then went on to teach organic chemistry at Grinnell College in 1974. He began teaching at Wheaton in 1975 where he currently teaches organic, advanced organic, and general chemistry courses. He has done research at Argonne National Laboratory and Northwestern University. Currently, he conducts research with an inorganic chemistry group at the University of Chicago.
In 1973, Dr. Niemczyk married Cassandra. They have two children, Elizabeth and Benjamin, who attended Wheaton College. In 1998, he and his wife moved to Hyde Park in Chicago to help start a church.
Besides chemistry, Dr. Niemczyk enjoys classical music, reading about professional baseball, watching good motion pictures, and collecting seashells. He was once a DJ for WETN, the Wheaton College radio station. Perhaps most important, being a product of the state of New York and the city of Buffalo, he is both a Buffalo Bills and a New York Yankees fan.
