Dr. Morrison considers teaching as a special calling, since God entrusts children to parents and special caregivers such as teachers. Her commitment to knowing children in order to help each one develop his or her own gifts, talents, and interests has led her through graduate schools and through service with children, families and teachers in both public and private schools. At Wheaton, she challenges and participates in their journey of meaning-making with many undergraduate elementary education students as they learn how to teach reading while learning how to reach young children. Her literacy and curriculum expertise has supported a partner school in District U-46 through a recent sabbatical. Beyond local partnerships, Dr. Morrison and a team of mentoring students engaged in curriculum development for HIV/AIDS prevention in South African schools. She truly cherishes this lifelong journey. She is traveling this journey with two sons, their spouses, two granddaughters and a wonderful, talented husband, Glenn. Dr. Morrison and her husband are also actively engaged in a large Evangelical church in the Chicago area.
