Psychology Associations

There are two main associations that focus on the field of psychology, the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science

American Psychological Association

The American Psychological Association is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States. APA is the world's largest association of psychologists, with more than 134,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members.

Association for Psychological Science

The Association for Psychological Science is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of scientific psychology and its representation at the national and international level.

The student publications section of the APS provides great articles on applying for graduate school, finding the right graduate program, preparing for the GRE, asking for letters of recommendation, differences between a PsyD and a PhD, and a number of other topics.

Help Paying for Grad School
The Armed Forces has a program for those seeking clinical credentials in the health professions which will pay tuition and a living expense stipend in return for some years of service in the military practicing your profession.  It is called the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP).  Clinical Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) and Clinical Social Worker are two supported professions.
