Jennifer Shepherd, Ph.D.

Jennifer Shepherd (Ph.D., Concordia University) began teaching courses in the Linguistics Department at Wheaton in 2018. Her focus is equipping the next generation of teachers to effectively teach multilingual learners in diverse classrooms.

As a graduate of Wheaton’s Elementary Education program (B.A., 2005) and TESOL program (M.A., 2009), Dr. Shepherd has seen firsthand the unique need for English teachers both locally and worldwide. She is an educator with 17 years of experience teaching at public elementary and middle schools in the Chicagoland area. Dr. Shepherd has also taught English as a foreign language in Asia, South America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
