Lydia Vermeesch’s conducting teachers and coaches include Jerry Blackstone, John Nelson, John William Trotter, Mark Stover, Caron Daley, Duain Wolfe, Beth Willer, David Hayes, Robert Istad, Mary Hopper, and Daniel Sommerville.

Lydia Vermeesch is an active choral conductor, music educator, worship leader, and vocalist. She currently serves as the Worship Director at Church of the Resurrection in Wheaton, IL, where she leads a blend of traditional and contemporary musical worship. She completed her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Michigan (2023), where she studied under Dr. Eugene Rogers. While at the University of Michigan, Lydia served as conductor of the Orpheus Singers and assistant conductor of the University Choir. Previously, Lydia held positions in church music leadership at several liturgical churches in the Chicago suburbs. She also served on the music faculty of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School, The Field School, and the Greenhouse Co-School, where she taught curricular music classes, conducted choirs, expanded the vocal music curriculum, and directed musical theater productions. Lydia earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and English Literature from Wheaton College (2017). Her former conducting teachers and coaches include Jerry Blackstone, John Nelson, John William Trotter, Mark Stover, Mary Hopper, and Daniel Sommerville.

Lydia is passionate about music in worship, interdisciplinary artistic collaboration, and holistic music education.
