Our Mission
H3 Test Heading
At Wheaton College’s School of Psychology, Counseling, and Family Therapy, we are dedicated to a mission that blends the principles of psychology with the compassionate teachings of the Christian faith. Through our Doctor of Psychology program, we aim to shape individuals who not only excel in clinical psychology but also integrate a deep understanding of spirituality into their practice.
Grounded in Faith
Our educational approach is firmly grounded in the beliefs and practices of the Christian faith. We strive to instill these values in our students, fostering a holistic understanding of the human experience.
Practitioner-Scholars
We aspire to produce highly competent clinical psychologists who are practitioner-scholars. Our graduates contribute to both theoretical and applied empirical scholarly literature, advancing the interface of psychological and spiritual understandings of the person.
Service-Oriented Practice
Emphasizing a commitment to professional practice as service, we particularly focus on serving the Body of Christ, the Church, and those marginalized or wounded by societal factors.
Community of Faith
Training occurs within an intentional community of faith, promoting balanced growth in spiritual, personal, professional, and interpersonal dimensions.
Addressing Mental Health Needs
In response to the growing mental health needs within the Church and society, our Ph.D. program equips students to become leaders and creative consultants. Pastors, staff, and individuals often face limited resources for mental health support that align with their Christian beliefs. The global pandemic has intensified these concerns, especially among marginalized populations.
