2022 Initiatives
Church Mental Health Collaboration
Wheaton College Ph.D. and other program faculty and students began to form faculty-student dyads, partnering with community Christian organizations. These partnerships provided training and experience in the evidence-based Clergy Outreach and Professional Engagement (COPE) model.
Collaborative Psychoeducation with Asian-American Churches
The team collaborated with two Asian-American churches to provide psychoeducational workshops on mental health topics, aiming to increase knowledge and decrease stigma around seeking mental health care.
Created for Connection Retreat Project
This program for missionary and clergy couples guided participants through conversations to better understand their feelings and needs, based on Emotionally Focused Therapy. Retreats were held in Wheaton and Roseland, an underserved area of South Chicago.
Consultation with Global Christian Organization
The team conducted a survey, targeted interviews, and focus groups for a global Christian organization to inform policy development and implementation regarding mental health impact.
