Faculty Profiles

Emma Cooksey is very grateful to be a part of the wonderful team of Community School of the Arts (CSA) instructors, teaching Early Childhood and CODA classes.

While attending Wheaton College, Emma was active within the Conservatory of Music, serving in various leadership roles and playing trumpet in the Wheaton College Symphonic Band, Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra, and chamber music programs. In addition to her pedagogy studies with Dr. Beth Bauer, she studied trumpet with Mark Ridenour and all levels of conducting with Dr. John Patrick Rakes, Dr. Benjamin Klemme, Dr. Brady McNeil, and Dr. John William Trotter. During her time as a student, Emma also worked as a CSA teacher assistant and gave virtual trumpet lessons to students in Uganda in partnership with the Rafiki Foundation.

Emma draws much inspiration from various encounters with God’s beauty and grace, and desires to share that with those around her through music and mentorship. Through working with students of all ages in children’s ministries, youth day camps, music classes, and summer conservatories, she has been encouraged by the budding enthusiasm, creativity, and curiosity of the next generation. She hopes to help her students discover a world of possibilities in music, including its capacity to deeply resonate with who they are as individuals and its ability to bring people together.
